The ”easy mode” can be chosen to get a quick overview without calibrating details of coalition formation
models. By default, the easy mode displays minimal winning coalitions only, assumes that all coalition
parties influence policy outcomes to the same degree, measures distances between party positions and
expected coalition policies based on Euclidean distances, assumes parties’ policy motivation purely
extrinsic, shows the parties’ utility maximizing coalitions, and identifies expected coalitions.
The ”expert mode” enables the user to calibrate details of the coalition analysis. This involves parameters
for estimating coalition policies, how strongly parties are assumed to be motivated by offices compared to
policies, whether parties’ policy motivation is operationalized as intrinsic or extrinsic, and others.
